ESL Listening Website: EZSlang.com Teaches Street Talk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)May 23, 2008 – American Fork, Utah - Randall Davis, an English teacher by profession and a well-known Internet pioneer on educational technology, has been developing his main Website, Randall's ESL Cyber Listening Lab (http://www.esl-lab.com), since 1998.

However, he decided to create a new Website called EZSlang.com (http://www.ezslang.com) to fill a different niche, one that focuses on helping learners navigate more informal language in everyday life that is filled with slang, regionalisms, and idiomatic expressions. This type of language is seldom introduced to any extent in classroom textbooks, but without some understanding of this part of language, English learners will often be left outside of conversational circles. Imagine a student trying to learn the meaning of  "He always has his nose in a book" or "She never shows her true colors."

Fortunately, EZslang.com is designed to teach students how to better understand and use slang in daily conversations. Each section of the Website revolves around a theme such as meeting new people, travel, dating and marriage, and job hunting. Then, each section contains a main listening conversation, vocabulary notes and a quiz, and discussion and writing activities.

Randall encourages teachers to review the site and then use it as a supplement to reinforce similar content that they are covering in their classes. The Website is completely free to use. Visit Randall's other Website for more language practice:
