Houston – Molina's Cantina, a family-owned and operated Tex-Mex Restaurant chain headquartered here, announced today that the closing of their 5227 Buffalo Speedway restaurant, located at the northeast corner of Buffalo Speedway and Bissonnet, has been delayed one week. The final day of business at this location is now scheduled for May 31, 2008.
"It was a nice surprise to learn that we will have the opportunity to remain open for business through the end of the month, a week later than we originally anticipated,"
Meanwhile the Molina brothers continue to search for a new location nearby and are working closely with their staff at the Buffalo Speedway location to relocate them to their newest restaurant at 4720 Washington, just a few miles away, or the Molina’s Cantina at 7901 Westheimer Road, just six miles away. The Buffalo Speedway restaurant will be cleared for new construction and retail redeveloped by H-E-B Grocery Co.
To thank their loyal customers, many of whom have been frequenting the restaurant since it first opened 20 years ago, Molina’s will host an "Adios Amigos" farewell event from May 23-31, complete with food and drink specials, as well as commemorative gifts and dining certificates.
Molina’s Cantina has been a Houston tradition since 1941, when Raul Molina Sr., considered by many as a pioneer in Tex-Mex cuisine, opened his first restaurant at 1919 W. Gray.
