May 19, 2008 - PRLog -- Portland, OR: Americymru.comappears to be the only American website conducting book reviews of Welsh authors. A new addition to the website, the Welsh book reviews are starting to glean international interest in authors who are primarily famous in their homeland of Wales.

The site owners, Ceri Shaw and Gaabriel Becket, find select literary texts by Welsh authors and personally review each work.

According to Shaw, “It is a time consuming process, but as a Welshman in America, I consider it my patriotic duty to provide an appropriate venue to introduce Americans to the vibrant world of living, modern Anglo-Welsh literature. The books we review are English language, by Welsh authors, set in Wales or profiling Welsh-Americans.  With a few exceptions, we intend to mainly review new and living authors.”

Recent reviews currently on Americymru.com are: Sea Holly by Robert Minhinnick; Salvage by Gee Williams; St Winifred's Well by John A. Shaffer; Resistance by Owen Sheers; In And Out of The Goldfish Bowl by Rachel Trezise; and The Man From The Alamo by John Humphries, amongst others.

“We want to make our reviews page the pre-eminent site on the internet for modern Welsh literature. While our website is a trove of information about Welsh history and culture, our reviews will provide newcomers with a good introduction to some really fantastic modern Welsh writers,” said Becket, “The books we review are also available for purchase through our website.”

To read the reviews, go to  www.americymru.com/bookreviews/bookreviews2.html.

Americymru.com is one of the very few websites devoted to the celebration of Welsh-American culture and heritage. It is a place for Americans of Welsh descent to celebrate their heritage and deepen their knowledge of the rich fund of Welsh history and culture, the contributions Wales and Welsh men and women have made to America and to explore what it means to be "Welsh-American." ‘Americymru’ (pronounced "amerikumree") is a coined term that simply means American Welsh.
