Tina Mansfield has designed a ring called String-Ring — The Kindness Reminder. The sterling silver ring is designed to be threaded with interchangeable colored strings and is inspired by the old custom of tying a string around your finger to remember something, in this case ... kindness. Each ring comes with a set of 10 strings, each color representing a particular act of kindness.
The strings can be changed as often as wanted, whether it’s to glame it up for the girls with beads or a bow, or to focus on the meanings of each color. For example: Blue represents tranquility, and should remind us to be patient with others, Purple stands for empathy and should remind us to be tolerant of the differences between us, Silver stands for wisdom and understanding and should remind us to forgive, and Gold is the color of wealth and should remind us to give…not just money but our attention, time, knowledge, or even a smile! There are 10 colors to choose from with 10 different kindness reminders.
“My hope is to encourage people to slow down their hectic lives and remind them of the responsibilities that make communities strong,” Tina said. “Kindness and respect are a big component of this. Every one of us can play a small part by simply respecting those around us.”
