National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Awareness Week

PRLog (Press Release) – May 17, 2008 – West Palm Beach Florida - On December 6, 2007, the United States Congress passed a bill designating the first week of June as "National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Awareness Week." The passing of this bill brings to light the importance of learning life-saving skills such as conducting CPR and operating an AED, as well as the importance of having readily accessible AEDs throughout our communities.

The CPR School, LLC offers American Heart Association and ECSI group CPR, First Aid and AED training certification classes at your location.  The CPR School is a mobile CPR, First Aid and AED Training Company and we sell and service Automated External Defibrillators – AEDs.  Group or Private Classes are offered 7 days per week.  Although the bulk of our classes are taught in South Florida locations such as Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach and Fort Pierce we were recently hired to teach a CPR, First Aid and AED class in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.  Because we are a “mobile training center” we can teach almost anywhere.

What makes our classes different from the CPR class we had in high school is that our classes were designed to be both educational and fun.  Our philosophy is that learning does not have to be painfully boring.  We feel that if you have fun, laugh and the class is interesting you will enjoy yourself and will absorb and retain the material better.  That’s why more people say that they love our classes and recommend us to their friends.

In addition to CPR, First Aid and AED Training we also offer HIV/Bloodborne Pathogens training classes and within the next few months we plan to begin offering online training programs as well.

The AED portion of our training is very important and often the most interesting.  An AED or Automated External Defibrillator is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient.  The AED is able to treat the patient by application of electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm.  AEDs are designed to be simple so that anyone can use one.  Each of our students will have the opportunity to use an AED during the class.  We typically bring 2 or 3 different AEDs to class to show students how the various models work.  Some of the more commonly used AEDs are Medtronic / Physio Control, Cardiac Science, Philips, Zoll and Defibtech.

The sales and service of the AED business goes hand in hand with the CPR training.  The AED is an essential link in the CPR chain of survival.  Early defibrillation greatly increases the victims chances of survival.  For this reason, we encourage all of our customers to purchase an AED for their business, school, or home.  We also remind our customers that the AED should be inspected on a regular basis to make certain it is working properly.  The batteries and electrode pads on these units need to be replaced every several years.
