The 2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race is the longest and arguably most challenging event for powerboat drivers anywhere in the world. The endurance race features some legs of well over 200 nautical miles through some extremely difficult seas; testing both crews and their boats to the limit.
The Garmin Racing powerboat will be driven by Iain May, a camera man for Top Gear, while the show’s presenter, James May, and DIY SOS personality, Nick Knowles, will also be part of the team. The vessel is a 39 foot boat with two EPS marine diesel onboard engines providing 900 horsepower. Effective filtration is essential to the smooth running of the engine in such extreme conditions, which is why Parker technology has been chosen. The 2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race will start on Saturday 21st June, with the fleet returning to Portsmouth on 30th June.
