Cary, NC – Susan Marcinko, Executive Director of The Carying Place, an organization that provides services to homeless, working families with children to give them the opportunity to improve their housing situation, has announced the Seventh Annual Benefit Auction was a huge success.  The Benefit Auction, held on Friday, May 9 at The Matthew’s House in Cary, featured a Silent and Live Auction, complimentary beer and wine, as well as heavy hors d’oeuvres.  Over 200 people attended the event and participated in the Silent and Live Auctions raising more than $50,000 for The Carying Place.

“I am thrilled with the way the Auction turned out,” said Marcinko.  “The Auction has always been successful in the past but this year’s event was absolutely amazing.  I would like to thank all the attendees and sponsors for helping The Carying Place continue on with their mission to help provide services to homeless, working families with children.”

The Carying Place’s Board of Directors President, Ian Henshaw, adds, “The Auction was a lot of fun and a great success!  I would like to thank all who contributed to such a great event while working against the strong headwinds in the economy.  The event was a great success and something we are so proud of.”

The theme of the event was “There’s No Place Like Home” and tied in various aspects of the movie classic, “The Wizard of Oz.”  Throughout the evening, attendees had the chance to bid on a variety of items including a houseboat cruise, a one-week beach house vacation in Florida, a bird watching tour, a solo flying experience, mother’s day flower arrangements, fresh water pearls valued at $500, unique pieces of art donated by local artists and a variety of food, personal services and children’s items. All proceeds of the Silent Auction Benefit went to The Carying Place.
