Fiction Writer Puts Modern Twist on Titanic’s Legendary Fate
Author Utilizes Suspense, Intrigue and Mystery in an Epic Thriller

Nearly one hundred years after the catastrophe, people around the world are still intrigued by the events leading up to the ultimate destruction and sinking of the historic ship, Titanic. Wanting to engage readers in a present-day story fabricated from the legendary ship, author V.C. King put her research skills, interest in the topic and natural story-telling abilities together to create her second published book, Titanic: Relative Fate.
Set in Florida on a cruise ship, Titanic: Relative Fate introduces Titan’s Sister, the sister of the doomed Titanic. Built as a modernized replica of the legendary vessel, Titan’s Sister is a wonder to behold. Yet shipbuilder Abram Harwood begins to question whether there is more than just a physical resemblance between the two ships. Detective Melika Jones joins the ship’s virgin voyage to investigate the strange accidents surrounding Titan’s Sister. Yet, instead of solving the mystery, Jones and Harwood are faced with a new nightmare once Titan’s Sister is finally at sea, and they begin to wonder if she awaits the same fate as the Titanic.
“Titanic: Relative Fate asks the ‘what-if’ questions, should the Titanic set sail today,” states King. “Therefore, the reader can relate and empathize with the characters dealing with the problems and conflicts of our time.”
King wastes no time delving into the action of this epic thriller. Within the first few pages, readers are swept into the ship’s first crisis in a series of many to unfold. Readers quickly become involved in the intricate and complicated lives of the characters, as the plot of Titanic: Relative Fate continues to develop to the last page.
Norm Lewis, founder of the Canadian Titanic Society, calls it, “A worthy addition to anyone’s library…so believable, that if it were not for its fictional classification, I would have believed it to be an account of an actual ship.”
Through the Titan’s Sister’s story, King makes it evident that disasters of great magnitude can rarely be attributed to one factor alone, rather, a number of incidents of any scale coming together at just the right time. With extensive research weaved into an intriguing plot line, Titanic: Relative Fate is a must-read for any Titanic buff or thriller seeker alike.

Look for Titanic: Relative Fate at the upcoming Book Expo of America beginning May 29th, 2008 located in Los Angeles, California.
