May 13, 2008 – TraillWorks, owned by Newton, NJ artist Jennie Traill Schaeffer, announces the opening of its new studio, art gallery and lesson space at 135 Spring Street. Joining Gallery by the Green and the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council Gallery, the opening of TraillWorks marks the third visual arts location in the recently designated Main Street New Jersey town and the development of Newton as an arts destination. A grand opening celebration is slated for Saturday and Sunday, June 7th and 8th.
Throughout the weekend, guests will have an opportunity to win an original giclée of one of Schaeffer’s paintings. Part of the exhibition featuring Schaeffer’s paintings will include works by current and past students. On Sunday from 12 - 2pm the artist will draw a complimentary pet portrait to the first four pet owners who arrive with their pet. And from 3 – 4pm she will give a gallery talk about her artwork. TraillWorks will be open to the public on Saturday from 10am – 4pm and on Sunday from 11am – 5pm.
A visit to TraillWorks on any day may find her developing a new painting, teaching a student to draw or talking with visitors. In the gallery, the public can browse the artist’s recent work, including her paintings, prints, tiles, and note cards of iconic representations of iconic vintage kitchen appliances, scrumptious trappings of weddings, and modern Italian scenes. Schaeffer also creates custom work for clients and is available by appointment to discuss their visions.
Lessons are taught in the rear of the gallery, part of the artist’s studio space. Schaeffer’s unique teaching approach combines her experience as a working artist and her certification as a NJ art teacher. Her lessons focus on individualized attention through a multimedia approach and are appropriate for the hobbyist or the developing artist. To celebrate its opening, TraillWorks is waiving the annual registration fee for students who enroll during the month of May.
TraillWorks is open Monday, Tuesday, and Friday 10am – 6pm, Thursday 10am – 8pm, Saturday 10am – 5pm, and Sunday 11 - 5pm .
About Jennie Traill Schaeffer
Born in Easton, PA, and named “Best New Artist” in 2006 by the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council, Schaeffer is an emerging artist who exhibits in the NYC metro area, with work located in a growing number of private collections including Mountain Creek, Vernon, NJ. Her work has earned several awards, notably from Syracuse University, the Somerset Art Association, the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council, and received her a 2008 Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Scholarship.
