Retailers Delight Tech-Savvy Shoppers Offering Digital Products through Displayware DIGpad™

Digital filling station allows consumers to buy and download favorite digital ‘stuff’ directly to any portable device

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)May 13, 2008 – Seattle, WA -- Digital technology solutions provider Displayware announced today the launch of Displayware DIGpad ™ – a digital media filling station for brick-and-mortar retailers.

DIGpad provides retailers with a new sales channel that targets highly mobile consumers who are increasingly choosing digital products over their physical counterparts.   The system allows retailers to sell all types of downloadable media to customers shopping ‘in-store’ through its convenient touch-screen kiosk.  According to industry analyst firm eMarketer, US consumer spending on digital goods like music, movies and television will reach $7.8 billion in 2010, up from $1.3 billion in 2005.

With DIGpad, shoppers can browse, purchase and download their favorite music, movies, games, books and other content directly to most portable media devices, including Apple iPhones and iPods, Windows DRM-equipped devices, and other media devices.  Retailers also have the ability to offer customer-service information such as product comparisons, how-to guides and audio tours through DIGPad.

According to Steve Michaels, Managing Partner of Displayware, “Retail customers are going digital and retailers need to be prepared to meet the shifting shopping behaviors of their consumers.  This means giving shoppers convenient and easy ways to browse, try and buy their favorite digital products while they are in the store.  Displayware’s DIGpad offers this compelling new shopping experience, giving retailers an added channel to drive sales and increase customer loyalty.”

DIGpad is part of the Displayware Media Merchandising System, a hosted service that puts retailers in complete control of their digital merchandising programs.  DMMS and DIGpad are cost effective and simple to set-up and can be completely customized to meet the unique business requirements of retailers serving any retail category.
