AURORA, CO – Fitzsimons Community Credit Union (FCCU), a full-service financial institution in Aurora, Colorado, held its 53rd Annual Meeting on Friday, April 18, 2008. The 53rd Annual Meeting conducted standard votes and motions, witnessed a guest speech by Congressman Ed Perlmutter, and offered support to “Homes for Our Troops”.
“This year we were proud to have on hand Congressman Ed Perlmutter, of Colorado’s 7th district,” stated FCCU Chairman of the Board, Thomas Smith. “Congressman Perlmutter was, and still is, a strong supporter of our credit union. He has fought for us during this time of re-development on the Fitzsimons campus, and has done great work ensuring our credit union remains a vital part of the area.”
Smith thanked Congressman Perlmutter during the meeting, as did credit union members and staff, for his support of the credit union. Perlmutter and representatives from the Credit Union Association of Colorado were also presented with a check for $3,000 from FCCU. The $3K donation was made to “Homes for Our Troops”, a non-partisan, non-profit effort to build specially adapted homes for severely injured service members.
“This is what makes us a community,” said FCCU President/CEO, Sandy Neves. “It might sound cliché, but it really is people helping people that build strong communities. We hope to see a lot more outreach from local businesses to help get these homes built.”
“Homes for Our Troops”, www.homesforourtroops.com, is a non-profit organization committed to helping those who have given to their country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries. “Homes for Our Troops” assists severely injured Servicemen and Women and their immediate families by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor and coordinating the process of building a new home or adapting an existing home for handicapped accessibility.
