From the beginning of July, lavender will be the center of attention in the whole south of France. As every year, many villages and cities will arrange big lavender celebrations in order to dignify this year’s lavender harvest. Of course, numerous products made from lavender, for example soaps, oils and other cosmetics, but also lavender honey, potpourris and sachets will be available from local traders. Probably the most widely known Festival is the „Corso de la Lavande“ in Digne, a 5 day celebration starting at the first weekend of August. Montélimar , however, claims to throw the biggest lavender party, followed by the celebrations in Sault and Barrême. More than 22 villages and cities will celebrate the lavender harvest, so maybe it is up to the visitors themselves to choose their personal favorite. Lavender as far as the eye can reach - For those who cannot get enough, the Routes de la Lavende are a suitable way to enrich their holidays. Numerous themed exhibitions, gardens, arts and crafts as well as distilleries and lots of lavender will enchant the visitor and make the three different routes an unforgettable adventure.
