PRLog (Press Release) –
May 12, 2008 – LYNNWOOD, WA - Operation Military Family (OMF) will host the Military Marriage Celebration June 10, 2008 from 7PM - 9:00PM. (Doors open at 6:00PM) Embassy Suites Hotel, Lynnwood, Washington. How does anyone’s marriage survive in today’s rapid deployment military life? Communication, commitment, and hard work are the key to any relationship and especially important in the military. Today’s armed forces are not the same as when our parents and grandparents served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Armed with the latest studies, the most current resources and everyday life experiences Shindler's organization, this OMF event gives the general public a first-hand way to learn more about the difficulties married troops, their spouses, and families face. It also provides an excellent opportunity to learn how to support military families in the local community as well as to honor returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.
The military’s attitude toward families once was, “if we wanted you to have a family, we would have issued you one!” Those days are long gone and senior leadership recognizes today that Strong Marriages + Strong Families = A Strong Military (Member). According to Michael Schindler author and founder of Operation Military Family- Strengthening Marriages and Saving Families, 25000 military marriages failed last year.
According to (Ret.) General Tommy Franks, Former Commander-in-
Chief U.S. Central Command "Freedom is not free...and no one knows this better than military men and women and their families." In an effort to combat more failed military marriages, Operation Military Family is hosting a powerhouse lineup of speakers and presentations by Mr. John Lee, Director, WA Dept. of Veterans Affairs; Mr. Jeff Kemp, President, Families Northwest; Mrs. Bridget Minihane, Military Young Life; and Mr. Mike Schindler, Founder & Author, OMF.
Schindler states, "with the recent release of the national study reporting divorce cost to taxpayers in excess of $100 billion a year and military divorces topping 25000 last year, OMF is combating the trend by hosting a military marriage celebration event along with a book signing...." The purpose of this event is to raise public awareness and involvement in organizations committed to supporting our troops and strengthening military families.
