May 12, 2008 - PRLog -- The Association of Labour Providers (ALP) has today launched a new job board to help address the skills shortages within the UK Food and Agricultural industry and tackle the declining numbers of migrant workers choosing to work in these sectors.

The job board offers Labour Providers, Recruitment Agencies and Labour Users the opportunity to post all their vacancies in Food Processing, Agriculture, Forestry, and Horticulture.  For work regulated by the Gangmaster Licensing Authority only GLA licensed Labour Providers will be able to advertise.  Workers will therefore know that they are not applying to work for rogue unlicensed gangmasters.

Advertising on the site will be free of charge for all vacancies until July 31st 2008, helping to meet the peak rise in summer demand.

David Camp, Director of the Association of Labour Providers said:

“The intention is to create a job-board that will grow to become a definitive source of UK jobs for EU job-seekers in the Food and Agricultural sectors and as the most effective ‘central’ resourcing tool for Labour Providers and Labour Users alike.

We want to provide labour providers and others with a highly cost effective method of sourcing workers - one monthly advert could be advertising a need for 100 or even 1000 pickers or packers - there is no limit.

We also want to direct attention to our labour provider members’ services.  Labour providers play a vital role in the UK economy by supplying the demand for reliable and cost effective temporary labour.

Of course applicants will have to know that the job board is there. The ALP has carried out market research to determine where EU workers look for work, which social networks they belong to, the websites they frequently visit and the publications they read, both here in the UK and throughout the enlarged EU.  We will be extensively marketing to these sites to raise the profile of the ALP job board and to attract workers to the site.”

The Association of Labour Providers (ALP) is the specialist trade association for organisations that provide and use temporary, contract and seasonal labour within the Food, Agricultural and other GLA regulated sectors.

The ALP has teamed up with Brainhunter to add a fully functional job-board to the services they make available to their extensive community within the UK.

Colin Minto, Managing Director, Recruiting Technology Solutions, Brainhunter and ex Technology Director at The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), commented: “Quality recruiters and employers want premium advertising positioning and do not want their job opportunities buried within a myriad of others of differing quality. In addition, job seekers want access to relevant and current opportunities and be safe in the knowledge that the release of their personal data is in their hands.  The ALP job board, operated in partnership with Brainhunter, aims to deliver against these needs.  Brainhunter has a proven track record in delivering a premium quality product powering in excess of 100 CareerSites globally”.

If you are a GLA licensed Labour Provider, Recruitment agency or HR department looking to hire, visit www.labourproviders.org.uk to advertise free of charge until July 31st 2008 for workers in UK Food Manufacturing and Processing, Agriculture, Forestry, and Horticulture.
