WikiJob confirmed as voice of Web 2.0

Graduate employers to attend WikiJob talk on web 2.0

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)May 12, 2008 – WikiJob's Chris Muktar has been invited to speak alongside Red Bull, KPMG and Allen & Overy at the "Exploding Current Myths in Graduate Recruitment" conference on May 29. The conference, organised by The Careers Group, University of London will tackle the social phenomena of web 2.0, its relationship with graduate recruitment, and how employers are successfully adopting this new technology in their recruitment campaigns.

http://www.WikiJob.co.uk is reducing barriers between recruiters and job seekers by allowing potential applicants free access to information, Students, graduates and employees exchange ideas about companies, jobs and interviews over message boards, and also by editing companies' wiki profiles. Marketing language is strictly forbidden from the site and all information is fiercely controlled to remain objective and factual.

"One of the main advantages of WikiJob is that it allows candidates to share their experiences and knowledge of the recruitment process and of working at some of the top employers", says Luna Atkins, Event Organiser, The Careers Group, University of London. "While organisations can edit some of this information, the real power lies in the graduates’ hands and it is a great example of social media used to its fullest potential within recruitment."

Employers and recruiters are also able to use the site entirely free of charge and may edit their profiles as frequently as they wish. Employers find that by providing "warts and all" information about careers, the relevancy of job applicants improves. "If candidates have all the information available to them before they make an application, they will make more suitable applications, which benefits recruiters as much as applicants" says Chris Muktar. "In the past candidates were only able to find out about jobs from adverts or marketing material; companies were in total control of the recruitment process. Web 2.0, and websites like WikiJob help put candidates firmly back in control of the job search process by allowing access to a wealth of information previously unavailable. We're at a really exciting stage in the development of this technology in graduate recruitment."
