PRLog (Press Release) –
May 12, 2008 – Raza Murad is being dragged into a legal imbroglio for playing the character of the Nithari killings accused, Mohinder Singh Pandher, in D-5.
Written and directed by Yogender Konkar, the film’s title has been taken from the bungalow number of the accused in Nithari village near Noida, on the outskirts of New Delhi. Raza has been summoned by the district sessions court in Chandigarh on May 15 as his portrayal of the character could hamper the dispensing of justice in the case. Mohinder Singh Pandher’s son, Karandeep Singh Pandher had approached the court seeking a restraint on the production and release of the film. His petition stated that as D-5 was based on his father and as the matter was subjudice, the film should not be allowed to release. Raza Murad feels that earlier there have been films made on true-to-life incidents like Phoolan Devi and Shootout At Lokhandwala, but no one took the actors to court for their varied portrayals of the alleged criminals. # # # Lehren is India's First 24x7 showbiz news and entertainment channel exclusively devoted to India's colorful film industry, primarily Bollywood and its offshoots and variants in several states of India.
