First up is PlusNet (http://www.plus.net) who has tweaked its Broadband Your Way service by increasing the download limits for customers using its products without adding any additional fees to the packages.
For subscribers using the Broadband Your Way Option 2 package, the cap has increased from 8GB to 15GB per month. Broadband Your Way option 3 increases from 20GB to 30GB and Broadband Your Way Pro from 10GB to 15GB.
The ISP also launched a ‘Broadband Calculator’ this week. Available at www.mybroadbandusage.co.uk, the Broadband Calculator not only tallies up usage but also offers advice on whether customers are signed up to the right package. An interactive tool of high bandwidth applications also advises users on the typical usage for streaming TV, online radio, general browsing or downloading music.
In an effort to simplify mobile broadband data charging Vodafone has announced that it will begin bundling unlimited internet access into their existing monthly tariffs.
Vodafone customers will be able to access the web without risk off going out of their bundle allowance at no extra cost. Previously, Vodafone’s contract customers had to pay an extra £7.50 for Internet access on their mobile phones, but this will now be part of the existing price plan, albeit with a fair usage policy of 500 megabytes per month.
For mobile 3 users mobile broadband operator 3 recently cut the price of packages for existing customers and those that subscribe before the 31st May 2008 by 50%. For those that sign up with an 18 or 24-month contract a free USB Modem will also be thrown in to the package.
Ciaron Dunne from Broadband Genie commented on the new broadband offers: “This summer seems like an excellent time to make use of the varied bunch of discounted package rates and improved download caps. If you’re looking to switch broadband provider it’s worth comparing the offers to see which is most favourable for you. To keep on top of the latest offers Broadband Genie provides a convenient pooled collection of facts and figures so you don’t have to trudge through all the different ISP’s websites.”
