The EquiBaby™ staff and their families are all avid recyclers, which began when EquiBaby founder Elizabeth Bergenske offered incentive: Those employees and their families with the least garbage at the end of the week get a bonus. It’s as simple as that.
“What we thought at first would be a personally conscientious act has turned out to be a full fledged in-house campaign. We began small, with the obvious: paper, cans and cardboard, plastic and glass bottles… though with every trip to the recycle center we learned a little more. The multitude of plastics, the batteries, the office pack papers and the pet-food bag papers… we are continually amazed at what we are able to not send to the landfill! We thought “Why not extend these ideas to our customers?”
During the EquiBaby.com check-out process customers are given the option to use all-recycled shipping and packaging materials - or not - for their products. “It has been an amazing response” says Bergenske. “We are very proud to announce that 100% of our customers have opted for recycled supplies to be used for their shipping and packaging materials- from New Zealand to New York – 100%!
