Creator Mandy Searles was in charge of presenting such information for several years before she began inviting royal authors to write guest commentaries in January of 2008.
"My aim with ‘August Annotations’
One notable guest was Michael Farquhar, writer and editor of the Washington Post who allowed Mandy to publish an excerpt from his book, "A Treasury of Royal Scandals". Mr. Farquhar is in the process of writing another royalty-themed book which also gained publicity through the use of "August Annotations"
"By having guest commentaries, I discovered that I really want to help promote authors whose voices are rich with authority but also have a bit of humor to make history fun," Mandy notes. "It's a dynamic combination."
Mandy is also putting her online Q & A show, the "RoyaltyNow!"
"I want to promote the royal history books out there in the style of Oprah’s famous book club," she says. “Reading a review is one thing, but watching the review and to participate in said review is even better.”
Learn. Share. Discuss. These are the words that will make the task of studying an extremely pleasant experience according to Mandy. With new technology exploding onto the scene every year, there are more and more opportunities to explore ways of presenting material to a worldwide audience.
"We are the new face of royal history studies," says Mandy, indicating herself and her fellow bloggers. "We are a worldwide network of women and men from all walks of life who appreciate the history and the pageantry that is royalty. We put a creative, personal edge to that information with the technology we have, and we hope people enjoy it."
