After an 18-month process and independent audit by The Registrar Company, Shermco’s rotating apparatus service and repair business unit received the coveted certification. Some of the requirements in ISO 9001 include: establishing a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business; monitoring processes to ensure they are effective; keeping adequate records; checking output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary; regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness;
“The ISO certification process requires a serious commitment of time and resources but is well worth it when you consider the end value for your clients,” said Scott Meador, vice president for the Apparatus Services Division of Shermco. “The companies and municipalities we work with know that the designation guarantees that we will have specific processes that produce specific results and that we always follow these processes. We feel that it is essential for a company that does business internationally such as ours.”
