The team comprising seven PCP members and two government officers will visit Mumbai and Delhi to meet representatives of leading Indian NGOs like Credibility Alliance India, Charities Aid Foundation, Indian Centre for Philanthropy and Centre for Advancement of Philanthropy.
PCP, set up in 2001 as a nonprofit support organization, is involved in Research, Philanthropy Support Services (Public Private Partnerships & Philanthropy Portal), Communications & Advocacy and NPO Certification. PCP is led by a board comprising eminent citizens and top personalities from civil society and business. Its Board is chaired by Dr. Shamsh Kassim-Lakha and is led by Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, who also serve on the boards of various governmental, non governmental, professional and research organizations. The Centre is a pioneer in South Asia for having developed and implemented a unique “NPO Certification System” which aims at strengthening nonprofits and setting standards in terms of promoting good governance, documentation, disclosure, transparency, accountability and effective service delivery in nonprofit sector of Pakistan. The System not only bridges the information and credibility gap between the grant makers and grant seekers but also promotes international bset practice standards.
The visit is primarily focused on mutual experience sharing and learning from each other in certification and accreditation of non-profit organisations as well as their facilitation role and support services in philanthropy promotion.
The visiting team led by Dr. Humayun Khan, former Chairman Commonwealth Foundation and current Chair Certification Panel PCP, will also meet Indian government officials to exchange views and develop mutual understanding of the legal, regulatory and fiscal environment for nonprofits in respective countries so as to make them more enabling in the context of both national and regional development, the statement said. .
