May 07, 2008 – At a time when many consumers are watching their spending a little closer, retailers have been quick to pick up the new, classic wholesale clothing line, Nantucket Brand. The company began selling wholesale in late 2007, but already have their carried in over 40 retail stores along the east coast. Retailers have had success with the line as high-quality, mid-price range alternative to higher priced competitors.
Founded in 2005, Nantucket Brand originally only sold their products online. In the spring of 2007, they opened their own retail store on Nantucket, MA and then made the decision to sell wholesale in late 2007 with their 2008 spring/summer line. Despite entering the selling season late, over 40 retailers have already received orders and more have orders scheduled for delivery soon. Company President, Andrew Maury, has found that their price point resonates very well with consumers. "We didn't want to sacrifice quality for a low price and that is something we have been able to do. It's very good quality clothing at a moderate price." As an example, Maury cites the company's suggested retail price of $45 for a polo shirt. "That's well below our competitors but the quality is still there," he says. Nantucket Brand products can be found primarily along the east coast, with the southeast being the most wide-spread area. Currently, stores as far west as Texas carry Nantucket Brand products. The company still expects to continually add new accounts though. As Maury states, "We're very happy with the response we've received so far, but I think there's a lot more people out there who appreciate this level of product at the prices we offer."
