May 6, 2008 - PRLog -- Dearborn, MI, — The Dearborn Inn, A Marriott Hotel, began a $5.5 million renovation in December, 2007, and now the American classic hotel has a fresh new look. The comprehensive renovation of the historic Dearborn Michigan hotel includes all 229 guest rooms throughout the main inn, the Burbank and McGuffey buildings, as well as all first-floor meeting spaces including the Dearborn Ballroom, ideal for special events. The final phase of the luxury hotel’s renovation will be completed in mid-June and includes upgrades to the Concierge wing.

“The Dearborn Inn is a gracious property with a rich tradition of hospitality, but it is not a museum,” said Bob Pierce, general manager of The Dearborn Inn.  “Our goal of the renovation was to carefully balance its original character with the technology and functionality today’s traveler expects.”

The Dearborn Inn was commissioned by Henry Ford in 1931 and situated near Ford Motor Company Headquarters and its airport, making the historic inn the world’s first airport hotel.  The new décor will reflect this unique history; thematic art with an emphasis on Henry Ford, Ford Motor Company, and the American automobile industry will grace the guest rooms and corridors offering guests an authentic perspective on the region.

In addition, the Burbank and McGuffey buildings at the Dearborn Michigan hotel will feature design elements related to Luther Burbank, a horticulturalist and a pioneer in agricultural science, as well as Dr. William Holmes McGuffey, educator and author of the McGuffey Readers. “Henry Ford admired both Burbank and McGuffey’s contribution to American history,” said Pierce. “In the renovation, we wanted to build awareness for these individuals by incorporating design elements like artwork and books related to their work.”

Guest room upgrades at the luxury Dearborn Michigan hotel include: flat screen, 37” televisions with plug n’ play connectivity panels for PC, MP3 players, and more; new furniture throughout including plush Marriott bedding; and, beautiful new carpet, furniture and window treatments. Guest baths will feature new tile floors, wood shelving, marble counters, curved shower rods and Kohler faucets.

Continuing a decades-long tradition as a favorite venue for meetings and events, the inn also recently completed a renovation of most of its function space, including the Dearborn Ballroom, a favorite setting for a wedding reception, as well as the surrounding foyer space and meeting rooms.

With a unique array of accommodations, including the main inn, two colonial lodges, and five colonial guest homes—229 rooms total—The Dearborn Inn couples an elegant historic façade with the quaint charm of an American inn.
