Follow on Google News | Too many Immigrants: UK tightens Immigration RulesForeign immigrants swarm into the United Kingdom on a daily basis, however could stricter immigration rules and strong crackdowns on illegal immigration cause this to cease?
By: Global Visas As many as 1.3 million immigrants have come to the UK in the past ten years; however this is likely to drop due to an increase in those employers prosecuted for hiring illegal workers as well as a tougher points based immigration system being announced today. 137 English companies have been found to be employing staff illegally and 100 employers have been recently prosecuted for hiring illegal immigrants. The reason for these high numbers is mainly due to the low wages employers can pay illegal workers. However, with fines of up to £10 000 per illegal worker and the prospect of jail sentences, this is set to stop considerably. Another way the British government is dealing with curbing immigration is by implementing a stricter points-based system for skilled migrants. From autumn this year all migrants will need to fulfil certain points based requirements according to salary and qualifications. These new rules are thought to cut the amount of skilled workers entering the UK by 8000 each year. “Through these initiatives the Home Office aims to allow only those with a high level of skills to enter Britain,” says Liam Clifford of www.tier12345.co.uk. He adds that, “These rules make it much tighter for skilled and temporary workers. Only those with the necessary skills can now come here to work and study and benefit from all that the United Kingdom has to offer.” This point system, known as the tier system will directly replace the old immigration schemes, particularly the work permit. The new scheme that will be introduced today refers to tier 2, which refers to skilled workers with a job offer and tier 5, for temporary workers. With initiative like these, the fear of mass immigration and population overflow may be curbed through stricter immigration laws and a clearout of illegal immigrants. Global Visas, the immigration and visa authority, will help all those skilled workers wanting to work in the United Kingdom legally, advising and assisting them in all migration services.
