May 05, 2008 – Hillsborough County Property Appraiser, Rob Turner, accepted the User of the Year for Government award at the Mi-Co User Days Conference last week. This technology award recognizes Turner’s innovative approach to increased efficiency and cost savings in his office.
The Hillsborough County Property Appraiser (HCPA) is responsible for appraising more than 506,000 properties within the county annually. To enhance collection of field data and meet tax roll requirements, the department implemented Rover Technology Fusions’ (RTF) Rover INK, a mobile data capture and digital writing software solution. Using Rover INK, field appraisers collect data with a digital pen and paper. The handwritten data is transferred to the Rover INK Server where it is quickly verified for accuracy, cataloged into a SQL database and automatically sent to the county’s back-office Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system by Software Techniques Inc (STI). Since implementation, the processing time for site review inspection has been greatly reduced. Rover INK integrates digital pens with Mi-Co forms and Anoto paper to deliver a complete end-to-end solution. “This is a great example of multiple software vendors working in concert with government to create an award winning solution”, said Bob Letzeisen, RTF’s Vice President of sales. “Working with Larry Zirbel and the STI team made getting to the HCPA goal extremely easy." “While we had an efficient process prior to the implementation of the digital pen, we now have the leading edge technology for processing site reviews and permits”. “We are currently looking at different areas of our office to expand its use”, said Turner. # # # About Rover Technology Fusions:
