Through this book Jon shows that the mind is capable of leading people into a whole new realm that most might not believe to be possible. Some might find that Jon's sense of abstract thought is too complex to be juxtaposed with our everday reality. Maybe people with psychiatric disorders, such as Jon, are more sensitive to this thought process but are told it is imaginary. Jon shows that people's awareness of themselves can be measured on many different levels. He also shows that many of us actually have hidden pieces of who they are. It may actually be the case that they themselves can not find these pieces to the elaborate puzzle of their individuality. Jon's writing demontrates many hold the pieces to the elaborate design of thier identity, but they have no idea how to put them together.
Those that puzzle over their true reflection may actually repress the result of what they find or fail to understand it. Yet this is natural in the creative process of self discovery. Perhaps our imaginations are truly part of who we are, but we simply believe we are lost in illusion or unrealistic. Maybe we should pay more attention to the thoughts of people with psychiatric disorders instead of dismissing them as insane. Jon might be touched by an unusual puzzle while he attempts to solve the riddles of a solitary life.
Jon uses his writing and his art in a search for meaning, which is not a road we take in vain. In my final thoughts about this book, an open mind can accomplish many things. People should not fear something or criticize an individuals reality as they work within their inner life. Within the scope of Jon's creative process some might not understand or comprehend the mind of a psychiatric patient. In Jon's attempt to organize his personality he reaches out to others, as he juxtoposes his inner world with his place among our society.
