PRLog (Press Release)May 05, 2008 – Market-Leading Mezzanine Card Again Raises bar for Performance and Capabilities

Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS), real-time visual computing solutions, today introduced the Sentiris 5140 XMC mezzanine card. This product is the newest member of the Sentiris family of COTS graphics modules, which is designed for use in general computing applications as well as air, ground and maritime vehicles. The new Sentiris model is a continuation of Quantum3D's commitment to high-performance, portable computing solutions for military and civilian applications.

Built using AMD’s latest Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), the ATI Radeon™ HD 3650, the Sentiris 5140 delivers image quality and performance that are unparalleled in the industry. This is critical for enabling users to understand their environment, for target recognition and for “man-in-the-loop” training scenarios. The 5140 leverages Quantum3D’s power-management technologies to reduce power consumption and heat dissipation. In addition, the new Sentiris model meets the shock, vibration, temperature and other requirements of MIL-STD-810F, making it well suited for the harsh and demanding environmental conditions posed by military and civilian field-computing implementations.

The Sentiris 5140 also ushers in a new era of General-Purpose Computing on Graphics Processing Units (GPGPU), which enables computation in addition to visualization. GPGPU is revolutionary because it provides greater processing power per watt compared to traditional processors.

“Military and industry users of visual computing systems in the field continue to demand graphics accelerators with greater levels of performance and computing capabilities. The new 5140 builds upon the Sentiris family’s industry-leading performance that has satisfied industry integrators and their government and civilian customers. We are pleased to collaborate with AMD to deliver industry-leading, rugged embedded boards and subsystems,” said Alan Commike, Principal High Performance Compute Architect for Quantum3D.

"Embedded applications can benefit from the very high performance per watt of ATI Radeon GPUs from AMD,” said Richard Jaenicke, Director of Embedded Graphics at AMD. “By using simple C extensions, embedded developers can now access the massive parallel processing power of these GPUs for embedded stream computing and visualization.”

The new 5140 is supported on x86 architectures running Windows XP Pro, Windows XP Embedded and Linux operating systems.

The company noted that initial customer shipments will commence in late summer 2008, with full-field customer orders to be filled in Q4 2008. Sentiris 5140 pricing starts at $4,085 USD. Interested parties should contact salesinfo@quantum3d.com or call +1 (408) 361-9999, ext. 2.
