SANTA CLAUS, IN-----Holiday World’s 62nd season opens this Saturday with the premiere of two new family rides.

“Our guests have implored us for years to add a carousel,” says Holiday World’s Will Koch. “The Star Spangled Carousel will make a lot of families very happy.” The old-fashioned carousel includes a mixture of 30 horses and other colorful animals, plus two chariots.

The second ride, Reindeer Games, is a smaller version of the park’s popular Liberty Launch drop ride. Located in the Christmas section, the three-story “spring ride” will give children of all ages a chance to leap in the air like reindeer.

Splashin' Safari water park opens for the season on May 10, with the huge new Kima Bay, featuring seven water slides plus more than 100 water-play elements, including more than 125 water jets. The four-story interactive structure is topped by a 1,200-gallon ever-filling, ever-tipping bucket of water.

“Kima is the Swahili word for monkey,” says Koch. “We think children will enjoy the silly monkey theming nearly as much as all the climbing, splashing and sliding in store for them at Kima Bay.”

Kima Bay’s price tag was $1.7 million, part of the parks’ $6 million expansion for the 2008 season.

Once again this season, Holiday World & Splashin' Safari will provide the following family-friendly features: free soft drinks (including Gatorade, lemonade, iced tea, and fruit punch), free sunscreen, free parking, plus free use of inner tubes in the water park. Both parks are also smoke-free.

Holiday World opens for the season on May 3; Splashin' Safari’s opening day is May 10. For more information, visit the parks’ website at http://www.HolidayWorld.com or call 1-877-463-2645.
