Cary, NC – Susan Marcinko, Executive Director of The Carying Place, an organization that provides services to homeless families with children to give them the opportunity to improve their housing situation, has announced that The Carying Place will be holding their Seventh Annual Benefit Auction on Friday, May 9 at The Matthew’s House in Cary. The reception, featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres and complementary beer and wine, and the silent auction will begin at 7:00 p.m., and the live auction will begin at 9:00 p.m. The theme of the event is “There’s No Place Like Home” and will tie in various aspects of the movie classic, “The Wizard of Oz.” Throughout the evening, attendees will have the chance to bid on a variety of unique items. All proceeds of the Silent Auction Benefit will go to The Carying Place.

Live auction items will include a houseboat cruise, a one-week beach house vacation in Florida, a bird watching tour, a solo flying experience and mother’s day flower arrangements. Silent auction items will include fresh water pearls valued at $500, unique pieces of art donated by local artists and a variety of food, personal services and children’s items.

About The Carying Place
The Carying Place, Inc. provides a Transitional Housing Program (THP) that gives families an opportunity to stabilize their financial situation, leading to permanent self-sustaining housing. Each family accepted into the program is paired with a volunteer team, which works with the family to develop a personalized plan for self-sufficiency. Through financial assistance and broad-based counseling in life skills, The Carying Place seeks to help people work toward self-reliance and growth. They serve up to eight families at a time, and families stay in the programs up to four months.
