EMINENT PLASTIC SURGEON
DEVELOPS NEW TECHNIQUE FOR
LONG-LASTING BREAST AUGMENTATION
Garden City, NY - - - In a ground-breaking report to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), Dr. Kaveh Alizadeh, a prominent board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, has provided evidence of a new and highly effective technique for improved, long-lasting breast augmentation.
“In traditional breast augmentation, a surgeon inserts a saline or silicone implant, does a lift to take out excess skin and breast tissue. The lift, over time, causes the tissues to stretch, and the breasts to descend, thus exacerbating the original problem, and eventually requiring additional correctional procedures. This can occur in six months to a year and is known as ‘bottoming out’.
“The procedure that I developed, however, uses the patient’s own breast skin to act as an internal bra that supports the implant over time. And in some patients, we can even avoid the need for implants by using the patient’s own lower breast tissue to provide what’s known as upper pole fullness. By using the patient’s own breast tissue, we can avoid problems of contamination. Prior to the advances stated in my report, the skin of cadavers had been used.
“We have had special success in women with multiple previous breast surgeries who have required correction because of the scarring and trauma of previous procedures.
“Women who choose breast augmentation do so for a variety of reasons: Due to a great deal of weight loss, multiple pregnancies, years of sun exposure, and/or breast augmentations that were performed years ago. In all cases, the women’s breasts developed a laxity of breast tissue: the envelope of skin became stretched and the entire breast sagged. By the time such women are in their forties, their breasts have lost the symmetry and shape that was attractive in their twenties. With our state-of-the-
“We tested my procedure over a five-year period with ninety-two women, and in all of them, the technique proved to be highly successful.”
