Venezia! will be a rich festival of fine art exhibitions, opera, theatre, music, film, a masked ball, talks, craft workshops, an Italian market as well as food and wine tastings that will transform Northampton this summer from 26 April to 10 August. The four month extravaganza celebrates the Museum's Venetian art collection, said to be one of the finest collections of 15th to 18th century Italian art in Britain.
Colore! is the he central exhibition of Venezia! showcasing Northampton's inspiring collection of Venetian masterpieces including works by Francesco Bassano and Giovanni Guardi, with artworks on loan from other major galleries including the Barber Institute, National Gallery and Rovigo (Veneto). This exhibition promises to be a once in a lifetime experience for lovers of Italian art.
There will also be a rare opportunity to view the costumes from the Royal Shakespeare Company's internationally acclaimed productions of The Merchant of Venice, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Othello and Romeo & Juliet as well as fabulous artworks from the RSC collections.
