PRLog (Press Release) –
Apr 29, 2008 – WHAT: May 1 is fast approaching – the day Green Plug names three winners in its “What’s Under Your Desk?” sweepstakes. Fortunately, it takes just moments to take a digital pic of that mess of cords, cables and power bricks that connect you to your local utility company. And just a moment or two more to sign the online petition advocating a Universal Green Power standard. You can’t win if you don’t play.
WHO: Green Plug, Inc., the pioneering developer of digital technology enabling real-time collaboration between electronic devices and their power sources.

WHEN: Now through May 1.
WHY: The sweepstakes highlights the need for a single, universal power architecture for electronic devices. Such a standard could prevent several hundred million power supplies every year from being tossed into landfills – maximizing resources, minimizing solid waste, and conserving energy.
PRIZES: 1st Place: Lunch in Beverly Hills with “green advocates” Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry, co-hosts of the VH-1 reality show, “My Fair Brady”
2nd Place: $500 gift certificate to Wal-Mart
3rd Place: $250 donation to your favorite green nonprofit organization, courtesy of Green Plug.
BACK
STORY: According to a new nationwide survey, conducted by Synovate for Green Plug, more than 60 percent of American consumers regard the consumer electronics status quo as “wasteful” or “frustrating.” A staggering 379 million discarded and obsolete external power supplies are destined to end up in U.S. landfills this year alone. Green Plug technology minimizes solid waste by enabling consumers to keep their chargers for use with future devices after their current devices have become obsolete.
