Local Wingstop operator, Samir Abou-Diwan, Receive a prestigious Top Gun award

Wingstop Recognizes Its Top Performers Nationwide

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Apr 29, 2008 – MENTOR ON THE LAKE, Ohio – Wingstop announced today the winners of its first annual Top Gun Awards. Local Wingstop operators, Samir Abou-Diwan, received one of the 32 awards, out of more than 350 stores nationwide.

Abou-Diwan’s store is located at 5907 Andrews Rd. in the Lakeside Shopping Center and can be reached at (440) 257-9464. To achieve the award the franchisee had to have a 96 average for the year in their mystery shop scores and a 96 average in their Quality, Service, and Cleanliness evaluations done by Wingstop franchise business consultants.

“We’re so appreciative of all the support we’ve received here,” said Abou-Diwan. “It’s a huge motivator. I love to see the anticipation in our customers’ eyes when they order their favorite wings.”

He’s also won the Mystery Shop annual system wide contest in 2006 and is currently in his 11th consecutive quarter of comp sales increases.

The Top Gun Awards were established by the chain to recognize the best of the best operators in the Wingstop system. The name alludes to the Navy’s term for their top pilots, a tribute to the chain’s aviation theme. It was designed to keep system-wide focus on the basics of strong operations: great food, service and clean restaurants, says Scott Lack, Wingstop senior franchise business consultant and developer of the Top Gun program.

“2007 was our first full year with the program and we know it works well because the Top Gun winners’ sales averages outperformed the company’s,” said Lack. “This proves the basis of the program, specifically, strong operations boost sales.”

About Wingstop:
Wingstop offers restaurants with a nostalgic, aviation-themed atmosphere where the sole focus is on chicken wings.  The chain also serves boneless wing strips made from 100 percent all-white meat chicken breast coated with a proprietary batter and breading.  Wingstop features nine wing flavors: Original Hot, Cajun, Atomic, Mild, Teriyaki, Lemon Pepper, Hawaiian, Garlic Parmesan, and Hickory Smoked BBQ. The wings are always made-to-order and served steaming hot. Customers also can choose from homemade side dishes including fresh-cut seasoned fries, bourbon baked beans, pearl potato salad, creamy cole slaw, vegetable sticks, rolls and assorted dipping sauces.

Wingstop has more than 600 restaurants either open or under development in 28 states and consistently tops industry growth rankings. Wingstop is 125th on Entrepreneur’s 2008 Franchise 500 list. The chain was also chosen Wing King at the 2006 National Buffalo Wing Festival. Troy Aikman, three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame quarterback, has served as the chain’s national spokesman since 2003. Aikman extended his contract in 2006 for three years, as Wingstop has posted 18 consecutive quarters of comp store sales increases since the partnership.
