Using a Guaranteed Savings Project allows the City’s utility to use a one-stop shopping approach to the project and take advantage of the Guaranteed Savings and Costs to reduce the risks associated with other procurement methods. The Elliott Ditch sewer line along the South side of the City had been averaging $600,000 per year in emergency repairs, while this approach will cost less than $300,000 per year and last for the next 50 years.
“The city needs to continue to invest in its infrastructure and maintaining the environment if it is going to continue to thrive and grow”, said Mayor Tony Roswarski. “We like to partner with firms like Bowen Engineering who provide us innovative ways to address our utility needs and then stand behind their work.”
Bowen will start the work immediately and be complete within twelve months. The $4,673,500 modernization project reflects a continued effort of the city administration to provide superior service to the community using innovative programs while being good stewards of ratepayer dollars.
David Wrightsman, Bowen’s Environmental Solutions Team Leader, said, “This is another project Bowen has developed for an Indiana Utility. We’re honored to be able to continue to serve the City and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the utility operations for the citizens of Lafayette. Using this approach not only reduces costs, it also increases the sustainability of the community’s infrastructure which is a win-win solution for everyone.”
