McCarthy was previously a solicitor with Aston Reid Lawyers and brings with her a passion and interest in criminal law, family law and elders law. McCarthy will also assist with the increasing number of legal aid and pro bono clients referred to Phang Legal.
According to Ern Phang, Phang Legal's director, McCarthy's wealth of knowledge and life experience would add a new dimension to the legal practice. "It is all part of our strategic plans for 2008, and we expect the growth in our practice and circle of influence to continue. We are very excited and very pleased."
McCarthy was a school teacher for over 25 years before becoming a legal practitioner.
