The Environmental Working Group (EWG), whose mission is to use the power of information to protect human health and the environment, released research findings ranking 13 of Cleure’s cosmetic and personal care products as safer than those from leading brands.
All 13 of Cleure’s rated products scored a 0-2 safety rating (the lowest toxicity levels), while well-known competitors like Estee Lauder and Mary Kay scored 7-9 safety ratings (the highest toxicity levels) for products including mineral make-up and anti-aging cream. Cleure’s toothpaste also beat out comparable products from Colgate™ and Crest™ in its safety ratings because it is a sodium lauryl sulfate and salicylate-free toothpaste, it provides superior plaque removal, and is non-abrasive.
The EWG posts their extensive research findings, which are based on ingredient toxicity, on the Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database website. The database was founded in 2004 to help protect families from health risks associated with dangerous chemicals in personal products that the FDA does not regulate. Skin Deep is now the world’s largest and most popular online product safety guide, providing safety ratings for 29,063 products – roughly 25% of all cosmetic and personal care products on the market.
The Skin Deep database and Cleure are also driving forces in the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a coalition calling for the elimination of harmful chemicals used in the cosmetics industry that are linked to cancer, birth defects and other health problems.
