Derby Nights at Fourth Street Live! presented by Bacardi, has become Louisville’s biggest Derby party, playing host to several thousands of Louisville residents, guests, and celebrities since 2005. This year’s celebration is even bigger than ever with more FREE concerts, guest DJs, and celebrities.
Derby Nights 2008 kicks off Wednesday, April 30, with the 134th Kentucky Derby Post Position Draw, delivered by UPS. This is the third year in a row the historic draw will be hosted by Fourth Street Live! The event will be broadcast live on ESPN2 beginning at 5:00 p.m. and racing fans are welcome and encouraged to attend this free event. The post position draw is just the start of four straight days of fun continuing through Derby evening.
Immediately following the ESPN broadcast, Derby parties kick off in earnest with the first of four FREE concerts featuring country music star Jason Aldean. Since bursting onto the scene in 2005, Aldean has seen a meteoric climb to the top with five consecutive top ten singles.
On Thursday, May 1, Louisville’s premier entertainment destination heats up even more with a FREE concert featuring Mr. Greengenes at 8:00 p.m. This high-energy cover band has been entertaining audiences throughout the Northeast since 1994. In addition, celebrities will be in full party mode at Lucky Strike for the 3rd annual Bowl for the Roses Charity Bowling event to benefit Visually Impaired Preschool Services. Bowl for the Roses is followed by a celebrity after-party at Felt. Once you’re done rockin’ to Mr. Greengenes, keep the party going at Hotel as the VHS or Beta DJs take the party to another level.
Friday night brings the largest Derby Eve party in town with a FREE concert featuring the Goo Goo Dolls presented by Bud Select. Since 1986, this platinum-selling superstar rock band has carved its place in rock history with such hits as “Name,” “Iris,” “Slide” and “Here is Gone.” Their 8th album, “Let Love In,” includes fan favorites “Stay With You,” “Better Days” and the title cut.
