With economies floundering across Europe, retailers are looking for opportunities to hold onto every cent of margin. This has led to more and more major companies now recognising the real importance of loss prevention & security management and how it can contribute significant sums to the bottom line,

No-one’s pretending that keeping losses low is an easy task for large retail companies, but the potential for a huge boost to annual profit remains. Improving measures to tackle staff and customer theft and reduce process errors is now paramount. In an extremely competitive marketplace, retailers who can reduce their stock shrinkage by 1% or 2% are able to put that money straight back on their bottom line and invest it in measures to stand themselves out from the crowd and improve overall performance and revenues.

So how do you do it? Well one of the key challenges is working out where your loss is coming from and what is actually possible – and profitable - to do about it.

It’s against this backdrop, that experts in retail risk and loss prevention with operations across the UK and continental Europe are converging on London for the 4th annual Retail Loss Prevention Europe conference on October 7th – 8th. Companies confirmed to speak on the agenda include many of the world’s biggest and most respected retailers including Carrefour, Metro Group, Asda, Lindex, B&Q, REWE Group, Royal Ahold, Starbucks, Boots, Homebase, HMV, DSGi and Best Buy.

"As the retail industry battles with difficult economic conditions in 2008, and margins are squeezed ever tighter, revolutionising the approach to loss prevention is crucial to protect the ‘last free money on the table’. This event aims to bring together industry leaders and recognised independent experts to help retailers minimise internal and external loss from their stores and reduce opportunities for theft, fraud and process error in their supply chains" comments the event organiser, Sara Lloyd-Jones.

Juha Kiesi, Expansion and Security Manager for Lindex in Finland who is speaking at the conference adds to this by saying, "Certainly a conference like this is great way to get new ideas, benchmark the old ones and to get new contacts across the retail industry".

The Retail Loss Prevention Europe conference is a unique event focusing purely on how large scale retailers can work to improve security and reduce loss from internal and external theft and process failure in their stores and distribution facilities. The excellent line-up of retail speakers will be joined by academic experts and solution providers as well as hundreds more senior risk, security and loss prevention executives from multinational retailers in London on October 7th – 8th.
