Curtice Commercial Real Estate is pleased to announce the completion of the framing of the new 30,000 square foot office building / banking center at the southeast corner of Sweetwater Boulevard and Lexington Boulevard in First Colony – Founders Bank Plaza.
A traditional tree topping ceremony was held on Friday, April 18, 2008, for invited guests and dignitaries. The tradition of topping a building with a bough of evergreen dates back many hundreds of years. It signifies passing a threshold of growth in the construction process, and is intended to ensure luck and success for the building’s occupants. One of the last beams placed in the building was signed by the building contractors OJ Armstrong and Jeff Anderson, the architect Jim McGregor, and Founders Bank President Jim Sturgeon, following another old European tradition.
Anchoring Founders Bank Plaza will be a brand new community bank, Founders Bank that will occupy approximately one third of the building. Founders Bank is the only locally owned and operated bank in the area and is personally committed to helping the community meet its financial goals. The new bank is temporarily located at 4971 Sweetwater Blvd. (In Kroger shopping center).
Founders Bank Plaza was designed by Jim McGregor and Charles Browne with Browne, Penland, McGregor, Stephens Architects. The general contractor is Crossmark Commercial Construction LC. The Spanish styled stone and brick building will feature a dominant “clock tower entry” at the Sweetwater / Lexington corner. The building is scheduled to open in late summer 2008. Currently space between 1,500 and 12,000 square feet is available for lease.
