Apr 22, 2008 – smartBridges, a leading provider of standards-based fixed outdoor wireless networking equipment is proud to unveil the airClient 241 series of wireless CPEs (Customer Premise Equipment) that compliment its existing portfolio of high-performance, carrier class products. The airClient 241 is offered in two form factors – a wall mountable indoor (residential) and an outdoor (enterprise) which are designed for carriers and communication service providers to establish end-to-end, license exempt wireless infrastructure capable of delivering data and voice.
Ease of deployment and simplicity of management being one of the main features, the customer can self-install airClient 241 by eliminating the need of a Service Provider’s truck roll. This results in significant cost savings on new customer acquisitions, while the auto-provisioning, virtual LAN (VLAN), Quality of Service (QoS), and bandwidth control features reduce the overall management and maintenance costs associated with such deployments.
The integrated antenna is sufficient to connect to an Access Point located up to 4Km away. For longer distances, an optional higher gain antenna can be attached to the external antenna connector. High data throughput and long operating range is possible due to the high transmit power and superior receive sensitivity. Power over Ethernet (PoE) support offers the flexibility of mounting the airClient 241 up to 100 feet away from a computer or network.
The Residential version is well suited for a variety of deployments ranging from small wireless networks, hotels and resorts, to large rural networks, while the Enterprise version can sufficiently support networks that require greater bandwidth, security, and management. In addition, the feature set of airClient 241 if fully customizable to meet the needs of individual projects.
