Apr 21, 2008 – The National Elder Law Foundation (NELF) announced today that they have certified Benjamin Burnside, attorney and shareholder for Bogutz & Gordon, P.C., in the area of elder law, one of the fastest growing areas of the legal profession.
As a Certified Elder Law Attorney, Burnside has been identified as a lawyer who has the enhanced knowledge, skills, experience and proficiency to be properly identified to the public. In order to be certified, he had to be deemed capable of recognizing issues of concern that arise during counseling and representation of older persons, or their representatives, with respect to abuse, neglect, or exploitation of the older person, insurance, housing, long-term care, employment and retirement. Some of Burnside’s other professional achievements include becoming a Certified Specialist in Estate and Trust Law by the State Bar of Arizona, serving as the current editor of the State Bar of Arizona Probate and Trust Law & Mental Health and Elder Law Section Newsletter and being an active member of the Executive Council of the Probate and Trust Law Section. In 2007, Inside Tucson Business, a weekly newspaper focusing on Southern Arizona’s business and legal communities, named him as one of Tucson’s “Up and Comers”. At Bogutz & Gordon, Burnside specializes in estate planning, trust administration, probate, planning for incapacity and elder law. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce and his juris doctor (J.D.) degree from University of Arizona College of Law.
