Dell's Volunteers of Distinction program is a global program designed to recognize Dell employees worldwide who actively support their communities through volunteerism. To commemorate employee efforts and demonstrate Dell’s commitment to supporting our communities, grants from the Dell Foundation are made on behalf of the award winners to the organizations in which they served as volunteers. Global community involvement is a part of Dell's "Winning Culture" initiative that supports genuine work-life balance for their employees and reinforces their leadership in the technology industry.
Lt Col Jennings and NJ Wing commander Col Robert McCabe discovered the program Feb. 29, the last day for 2007 entries. Lt Col Jennings provided the information to Col McCabe and he quickly prepared and submitted the nomination.
Lt Col Jennings said "Naturally, I'm honored to be recognized by Dell for what I do in Civil Air Patrol. They have always been supportive of my volunteer efforts." He added, "While the internal recognition at Dell is great, my devotion to CAP was never based on reward from my employer, but I am very happy that New Jersey Wing will benefit from this financial gift."
Colonel Robert McCabe was complimentary of Lt Col Jennings and his commitment to CAP. "When Bob told me about this program, I was excited and it was a priority for me to write up and submit his nomination. I think it's great, both for Lt Col Jennings' career at Dell and for NJ Wing that his employer is so committed to volunteerism. This is great recognition of Lt Col Jennings' service to Civil Air Patrol, NJ Wing and our evolving missions."
Lt Col Jennings encouraged members to advertise their service with CAP to their employers. "Larger companies have formal programs to provide financial support to organizations their employees volunteer for, but, if our members just ask, I'll bet that even small and midsize companies would be interested in providing Civil Air Patrol with support, possibly in the form of financial support. Maybe, as an alternative, they can make donations-in-
