Weeloop.com is a new social networking site, dedicated to the electronic music community. The site’s goal is to connect all aspects of the music world; from DJs, producers and labels, to event coordinators, clubs, associations and fans, all of whom will find a vast array of musical styles, including Hip-Hop, Electro, Drum ‘n’ Bass, Hardcore, Trance, etc.
Each member of Weeloop can create his or her own webpage, completely free of charge. And thanks to a web design unrivaled by other social networking sites, member pages are extremely user-friendly, clean and clutter free, structured, and benefit from effective web indexing. At no cost, artists can upload their work without limits on quantity or encoding quality. Members also have the option to publish podcasts. Besides tabs like “music”, “photos”, and the classic “profile” of other social networks, Weeloop also integrates personal multimedia blogs and will soon provide an online store for members to sell merchandise.
Much more than just a tool to show off artists and their creations, Weeloop aims for members to have a permanent line of communication with the music world. Each member is given a personalized home page (an original feature for a social network) that allows for members to communicate among friends, to receive the latest news headlines, and to direct any other web information to one page (mail, RSS, feeds weather, etc.).
This new Vertical Social Network uses all the latest technology of WEB 2.0 (AJAX, FLEX, RSS, ATOM, etc) and resolves to remain open. In fact, REST APIs are in the works to invite known users to create Mashups or mini-applications (OpenSocial)
