highlights that St Mungos is the capitals leading homeless charity which offers desperately needed services to homeless people across London.
High Street Max (highstreetmax.com) wants to point out that St Mungos understands the complexities surrounding, being homeless in the capital and aims to tackle these complexities head on. High Street Max ( highstreetmax.com) would like to praise St Mungos on both the day and night services that they run; this principled charity operates an emergency service which includes street outreach teams made up of trained staff and volunteers. These teams provide the contact and support that rough sleepers need to start rebuilding their lives. St Mungos also offers a ‘recovery’ as well as a ‘prevention’ service which enables people to tackle the problems that have lead to or may lead to their homelessness.
High Street Max (highstreetmax.com) would like to highlight that this worthy charity started from humble beginnings. St Mungos was founded in 1969 and was run out of a house in Battersea, London- which opened its doors to homeless rough sleepers. Although the name of the charity sounds somewhat religious, St Mungos is not a faith lead charity. The founder of this well respected charity; a Glaswegian named the charity after the patron saint of his home town of Glasgow. Over the years the charity has accomplished many milestones, opening many large hostels in disused building and smaller supported houses in London.
High Street Max (highstreetmax.com) would like to point out that as well as going on to become the first organisation to introduce planned resettlement by a dedicated team. St Mungos went on to open their first residential care home for frail men in 1981 and have since introduced the comprehensive STEPS (Skills, Training, Employment and Placement Service programme in 1986 which Highlights and deals with the core obstacles facing homeless people today.
The Charity has gone on to accomplish great things that not only benefits homeless people in London. High Street Max (highstreetmax.com) would like to raise the profile of the work that St Mungos has done for the homeless populous as a whole in the UK.
High Street Max would like to inform the public of the remarkable success story that is the ‘Clubhouses’ a work based project for people with mental illness. From the first clubhouse founded in 1990 for people with mental the programme now boasts over 30 centres across the entire country.
