Award Winning Gourmet Pizza Chef to Represent Canada at 2008 World Pizza Championship Games in Italy

PRLog (Press Release) – Apr 14, 2008 – Winnipeg, MB — Gourmet Pizza Chef Diana Coutu, co-owner of Diana’s Gourmet Pizzeria is heading to Italy to represent Canada once again at the 2008 World Pizza Championship Games April 21-23, 2008.

Diana has earned several awards including Canada’s Best Pizza Chef 2005 and 2006 from Canadian Pizza magazine; Canada’s Best Pizza Chef 2007 at the 2007 World Pizza Olympic Games in Italy, 2nd place award for Gourmet Pizza of the Year 2007, Finalist for America’s Plate 2005 and currently holds the gourmet member position of the Canadian Pizza Team™.  This year, Diana has been awarded one of two spots for Canada’s Best Pizza 2008.  Last year, Diana was the first Canadian to earn one of 4 finalist spots in the Pizza Festiva culinary competition in Las Vegas.  She also entered the Pizza Classica culinary category in Italy with over 400 competitors and was awarded Canada’s Best Pizza Chef 2007 and placed among the top 30 best scores.  

“I am proud to represent Canada once again on an international pizza culinary competition level.  I am working hard to bring home 1st place for Canada, again” said Diana Coutu, adding “This year I will be making a Cinque Fromaggio or Five Cheese Pizza on my award winning Moosehead Beer crust, using our signature house blend sauce smothered with a Garlic‘n’Chive Havarti, a 1 year aged white Cheddar, a smoked Gouda, and a smoked Mozzarella all from Bothwell Cheese, and then finished with a light sprinkle of freshly grated parmesan cheese.”

The World Pizza Championship Games have been held in Salsomaggiore, Italy (2 hours South of Milan) for 16 consecutive years.  Every year more and more pizziollos from around the world come to compete in several culinary competitions including: Pizza Classica, Neopolitan Pizza and Pizza by the Metre.  Other well known competitions also held at the World Pizza Championship Games include the individual acrobatic toss, the team acrobatic toss, the largest stretch and the fastest slap.
