FORT MYERS, Fla. -  Allyn International Services, Inc. (Allyn) has successfully submitted Continental’s Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) application for its automotive divisions to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).  CBP approved the application in late January.

Allyn began the C-TPAT process for Continental in September 2007.  C-TPAT is a voluntary government-business initiative to build cooperative relationships that strengthen and improve overall international supply chain and U.S. border security, according to CBP.  Businesses apply for C-TPAT certification by agreeing to participate in the voluntary program, providing corporate information and submitting a supply chain security profile.

The C-TPAT application process included a physical supply chain audit comprising of container (seals, inspections), physical (alarm systems, key access, lighting), and physical access (employee, visitor, delivery) security.  In addition, Continental was required to authenticate the security processes of their business partners.  It took over three months to complete the entire process and perform the necessary audits required to submit the C-TPAT application.

“Continental’s participation in C-TPAT indicates our on-going commitment to strict security measures that ensure the integrity of the supply chain and uninterrupted superior service to our OEM customers,” said Cathy Thomas, Manager Foreign Trade Logistics Automotive – Americas Region for Continental North America.

With annual sales of more than €25 billion (based on 2006 figures), the Continental Corporation is among the top five automotive suppliers worldwide.
