Apr 09, 2008 – Mary-Jo Burke is a program director for Garrett County Community Action Programs, a private, nonprofit organization that focuses on strategies that assist low income persons to be more self sufficient. Mary-Jo has been in this capacity since 2006 and oversees programs such as Head Start and Early Head Start as well as several after school programs and wraparound childcare. Mary-Jo is an expert in childhood education, program development and grant writing. She holds a Master of Education degree from Wilmington College and is on the board of the local Citizens Review panel and the Overlook Judy Center Committee. Mary-Jo is equally ambitious within her community and supports several charities. She is an avid reader of Teaching Tolerance and Garrett’s Child and is diligent in keeping abreast of developments within the field of education. In her spare time, Mary-Jo enjoys travel, boating, being with family and tending to her seafood restaurant in Frostburg, Maryland.
