Since the release of his book, Stephen has worked diligently in promoting the importance of people learning the real dangers of alcohol and substance abuse. He hopes his story will help others in reaching their own personal goals when it comes to their sobriety.
Rising Above the Influence is about Stephen’s personal battle with drugs and alcohol, and the long dark road addiction took him down. Stephen candidly recounts his indoctrination into the world of substance abuse as a young teenager; and the desperate, sometimes morbidly comical situations he endured to support his heavy addictions to heroin, prescription drugs, cocaine and alcohol.
“It took me twenty hard years of addiction—in which I lost my family, my job, my freedom, and ultimately myself—to get to where I am today,” says Stephen. “In my twenty years of sobriety I have lived a life I never thought was possible for someone like me, and I am living proof that the program works.”
