DirectBuy of Greater Vancouver donates furniture to Port Coquitlam’s Salvation Army.

Over the years, DirectBuy has been recognized for giving families the opportunity to buy directly from the manufacturer and save hundreds, even thousands, on home improvement projects, furniture, appliance and many other household items.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Apr 08, 2008 – DirectBuy has also earned a reputation for its generosity in the communities they serve. A fine example of that is DirectBuy of Greater Vancouver donating imperfect furniture, fixtures and other items to the Salvation Army at 2520 Davies Avenue in Port Coquitlam.

“It doesn’t happen very often, but once in a while we’ll accept a delivery for one of our members where there’s an imperfection—a nick or scratch, wrong color, etc. Some manufacturers, rather than a straight exchange, will ship out a new item for the member and let us dispose of the damaged item. Some of these items are still in pretty good shape overall and certainly usable so we donate those items to our local chapter of the Salvation Army,” said Peter Ruetz, co-owner of DirectBuy of Greater Vancouver.

That type of generosity is fairly standard for DirectBuy. Showroom owners across North America donate to any number of organizations, and have shown a particular affinity for making contributions to children/family-oriented organizations like Boys & Girls Club, YMCA and children’s hospitals. Some of DirectBuy of Greater Vancouver’s donations to the Salvation Army have included dressers, chests, tables, chairs, armoires and assorted pieces of furniture.

“DirectBuy’s generosity to the Salvation Army goes above and beyond the call of the standard donation,” said Diana Nyman, assistant to the regional retail manager of the Salvation Army of Port Coquitlam. “The resale of these items at our thrift shops helps fund the Salvation Army’s many programs and shelters which help the needy and disadvantaged. Since the items donated by DirectBuy are on the high-end side, with the exception of a nick or slight imperfection, we can usually get a very good price, which raises even more money for our programs.”

Since 1971, DirectBuy has helped consumers enjoy enormous savings on home furnishings, home improvement items, entertainment and outdoor products, and accessories, by providing an avenue to purchase directly from the manufacturer. With four convenient serving the Greater Vancouver area, DirectBuy offers consumers a comfortable, country-club setting, where they finally have the financial control of buying direct.
