PRLog (Press Release) –
Apr 07, 2008 – Squiz, developer of leading enterprise content management system (CMS) MySource Matrix, is celebrating ten years in the industry by hosting a presentation by Oxford University at the Enterprise Content Management theatre at Internet World, on April 29 in London's Earls Court.
The presentation will provide attendees with a real world example of how open source software delivers flexible, user lead innovation on the web, whilst allowing Managers to maintain complete control over how and where their web budgets are spent. It's a point that won't be lost on CIO's facing belt tightening measures over the coming year. "The wider economy may be ailing but the Content Management marketplace is extremely bouyant," explains Stephen Morgan, Director of Squiz UK, "actually, as we've just heard from the open source business conference in San Francisco, the wider economic malaise may even hasten the adoption of open source content management software. This is because, in uncertain times, you need to maintain complete control over your web budget. Only open source software can provide it because, unlike licensed software, you only spend money on services when and if you need them. As opposed to being forced to pay a license fee year in, year out." Squiz has been an open source vendor for over 10 years. Through work with clients such as Boots, Digital UK and the NHS the company has proven that the open source model can deliver scaleable and reliable software to the enterprise at signficantly lower cost than traditional licensed software models. Open source software is now a widely accepted, credible option for the enterprise. "Its timely that Oxford University will be delivering a case study on open source software and Internet World. Customers have woken up to the control over budgets and flexible development model that open source software provides" continues Morgan. "As an open source vendor, all of our revenues are derived from delivering the services organisations require to implement our content management system, MySource Matrix. In practice this means that every pound that used to be spent on a license fee can instead be used to purchase the services required to make the project a success." The case study, presented by Thaddeus Lippinski of Oxford University Library Services, will take place in the Enterprise Content Management Theatre at 3pm on Tuesday April 29th. All visitors to Squiz's stand (502) over the three days of the event will be able to take away free copies of the presentation, as well as market leading white papers on content migration, accessibility, usability and Search Engine Optimisation. # # # About Squiz
